What is partial restore?
What are partial backups?
A partial backup resembles a full database backup, but a partial backup does not contain all the filegroups. Instead, for a read-write database, a partial backup contains the data in the primary filegroup, every read-write filegroup, and, optionally, one or more read-only files.
What is partial SQL?
A partial backup allows taking backup for read-write filegroups data for the SQL Server database. It does not include read-only filegroup data in the partial backups. It takes backup for primary and read-write filegroups and excludes read-only filegroup data: Partial backup is available from SQL Server 2005 onwards.
What does it mean to restore a database?
Data restore is the process of copying backup data from secondary storage and restoring it to its original location or a new location. A restore is performed to return data that has been lost, stolen or damaged to its original condition or to move data to a new location.
