SQL databases have their drawbacks, true. But for most use-cases the extensive community, simplicity of the language, and fundamental structure of RDBMS make it one of the better choices for database technology. Why do we still use SQL after 43 years? Because it works and gets the job done 90% of the time.
Is SQL still relevant 2020?
That being said, SQL will remain in place for years to come as the standard data access language used across many different job families. You just can't go wrong learning SQL in 2020 if you expect to be in any kind of technical field, or looking for any job that is going to be managing data.
Do we still use SQL?
When it comes to your data needs, SQL may still be the most effective and efficient for you based on legacy data or past historical interactions with it. Whatever the case, SQL is still very much alive and relevant.
