Why do we need model database?

The Model database is the template database that SQL Server uses to create new databases. Each time you create a new database in SQL Server, the contents of the Model database are copied to the new database to establish its default objects, including tables, stored procedures, and other database objects.

Why is it important to model the database before building the actual database?

A data model not only improves the conceptual quality of an application, it also lets you leverage database features that improve data quality. Developers can weave constraints into the fabric of a model and the resulting database. For example, every table should normally have a primary key.

What is model database system?

A Database model defines the logical design and structure of a database and defines how data will be stored, accessed and updated in a database management system. While the Relational Model is the most widely used database model, there are other models too: Hierarchical Model. Network Model.

What is the purpose of using different models of DBMS?

Data Models are used to show how data is stored, connected, accessed and updated in the database management system. Here, we use a set of symbols and text to represent the information so that members of the organisation can communicate and understand it.

Can we start SQL Server without model database?

At first you may think having a backup of the model database will make things easier, but we will see that it is irrelevant having a model database backup in this scenario. Remember that in order to perform a restore we need the SQL Server instance up and running; and it can't start without the model database.
