What is the WAL property?
Why is WAL property important?
Using WAL results in a significantly reduced number of disk writes, because only the log file needs to be flushed to disk to guarantee that a transaction is committed, rather than every data file changed by the transaction.
What is WAL mode?
The persistence of WAL mode means that applications can be converted to using SQLite in WAL mode without making any changes to the application itself. One has merely to run "PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL;" on the database file(s) using the command-line shell or other utility, then restart the application.
What is a WAL file?
The write-ahead log or "wal" file is a roll-forward journal that records transactions that have been committed but not yet applied to the main database. Details on the format of the wal file are describe in the WAL format subsection of the main file format document.
What is the Postgres WAL?
WAL (write-ahead log) is the log of changes made to the database cluster which is replayed either as part of the database recovery process when a database isn't shutdown correctly (such as when a crash occurs), or is used by standbys to replay the changes to replicate the database.
