What is login used for?
In general computer usage, logon is the procedure used to get access to an operating system or application, usually in a remote computer. Almost always a logon requires that the user have (1) a user ID and (2) a password.
Why do we need a login?
Login creates a user account. This means that users are uniquely identifiable within your product. For users this frequently means that they can see their own profile and information, change that information, and keep track of what are the identifiers on their account (profile picture, username, etc.)
What does my login mean?
Login definition Synonymous with logon. Referring to the process by which one identifies oneself to a computer, and typically comprising the entry of a user identification (user ID) name and password. See also password.
