A specific SQL product has a performance level and may or may not have problems with supporting big data. For example, some SQL products have a very small footprint making them suitable to run on small devices, such as SQLite. Such SQL systems are definitely not built for big data systems.

The NoSQL DB, such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, are best fit for huge amount of key-value records. They are very easy to scale. If one record is 512bytes, 1 million records are 0.5GB. If the load keeps ingesting at 1 million rate for 100 days, total data will be 50GB.

MySQL is designed around full transactional semantics with support for long transactions and works with disk-based log durability. It is therefore not well suited for use with this kind of highly volatile data.
