What happens when you extract files?
Extract/Unzip Zipped Files When you extract files from a zipped folder, a new folder with the same name is created which contains the files. The compressed (zipped) version also remains.
Why do I need to extract files?
Zipping or compressing files help save storage space and transfer files more quickly than the uncompressed or unzipped files. These zipped files need to be extracted to be able to view the contents.
Is extracting a file same as copying?
There is no difference between copying files from a zip file (or any archive) or extracting them. The reason is, copying the files still requires the files to be extracted and decompressed.
