In 1986, the SQL language became formally accepted, and the ANSI Database Technical Committee (ANSI X3H2) of the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X3 developed the first SQL standard, ANSI X3. 135-1986. This was the beginning of what people mistakenly call the ANSI standard for SQL.
Is MySQL and ANSI SQL same?
MySQL server supports instead the ANSI SQL syntax INSERT INTO ... SELECT ..., which is basically the same thing. See Section 6.4. 3.1.
What does ANSI mean in SQL?
SQL became a standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 1986 and of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1987. Since then, the standard has been revised to include a larger set of features.
