Is local storage client-side or server-side?
Cookies are primarily for server-side reading (can also be read on client-side), localStorage and sessionStorage can only be read on client-side.
What is client-side storage?
What is Client-Side Storage? As the name suggests, client-side storage allows the user to store data on the client (i.e. user's browser). Conversely, server-side storage will store data on the server (i.e. an external database).
What type of data store is local storage?
LocalStorage is a key/value datastore that's available on a user's browser. Like cookies, LocalStorage can only store string data for its keys and values. The datastore is only accessible to JavaScript within that domain.
Where is client-side data stored?
There are four main methods for storing large amounts of client-side data today: Web SQL, IndexedDB, Web Storage and Application Cache.
