How many databases can be configured in an AlwaysOn availability?
Microsoft has extensively tested with 10 AGs and 100 DBs per physical machine. Signs of overloaded systems can include, but are not limited to, worker thread exhaustion, slow response times for AlwaysOn system views and DMVs, and/or stalled dispatcher system dumps.
How many databases are on a basic availability group?
You can only join one database per Basic Availability Group. While you can have an unlimited number of Availability Groups within a replica as your hardware resources permit, you can only have one database in a Basic Availability Group.
Can a database belong to more than one availability group?
Databases may only belong to one availability group at a time. You can have more than one AlwaysOn Availability Group on your instance, but databases cannot belong to more than one group.
What are the restrictions on availability groups?
Restrictions (Availability Groups) Availability replicas must be hosted by different nodes of one WSFC: For a given availability group, availability replicas must be hosted by server instances running on different nodes of the same WSFC.
