This is accomplished by holding the chestpiece stem in one hand and rotating the chestpiece with the other hand until a click is felt.

How do you get the plastic off stethoscope?

You have to push the plastic rim on the chestpiece down and away from the diaphragm. Once the rim is pushed off, start to work your fingers all the way around the chestpiece until it slips down. You can then easily maneuver the plastic rim off and remove it completely away from the chest piece and remove the diaphragm.
