You can also import data into Excel as either a Table or a PivotTable report. Select Data > Get Data > From Database > From SQL Server Analysis Services Database (Import).

When you import tables from a database, the existing database relationships between those tables is used to create the Data Model in Excel. The Data Model is transparent in Excel, but you can view and modify it directly using the Power Pivot add-in.

You can easily import a table of data from a web page into Excel, and regularly update the table with live data. Open a worksheet in Excel. From the Data menu depending on version of Excel select Get & Transform Data > From Web (eg in Excel 2016) or Get External Data (eg in 2000) or Import External Data (eg in XP).
